How Our Plants Get To You

Plants are tricky things to ship – making heavy, dense, and awkward packages, yet remaining fragile, delicate, living organisms. Having worked a handful of years in supply chain logistics, I know all too well the cavalier treatment of freight in transit. To give our plants the best chance of making it to you in one piece, we adhere to the following strategy:

We ship USPS Priority Mail 2-Day™. During the spring (April through mid-June) and fall (mid-September through December) we ship out orders Monday through Thursday, generally the day or two after they are placed. Orders placed after Wednesday at 11:59 pm ship the following Monday. Provided there are no issues during transit, plants are delivered by Saturday, which means they don’t spend Sunday sitting in a warehouse, therefore cutting down the time they’re in a box. During the off seasons (late June through August and January through March), we typically only ship once a week, on Monday or Tuesday, fulfilling orders from the week before.

To give our plants the best chance of survival, we’ve given a lot of thought to our packing strategy. For all potted plants with delicate foliage, we individually pack them with protective corrugated pad to prevent foliage from being crushed should the box be subjected to rough handling. Bareroot plants, cacti, and less delicate succulents are wrapped in kraft paper and cushioned by fill around them.

We charge a $10 flat shipping rate on orders ranging from $0-49.99. For orders of $50 or more, there is no charge for shipping.

Receiving Your Plants

When your order is delivered, it’s important to open it as soon as possible. After that, every order will have its own care guide specific to the plants included in it.

Plants are living, changing organisms, and can both benefit from and be harmed by the environment they’re in, the care they receive, and the circumstances they encounter. Because of this, it is incredibly hard for a small business to offer a comprehensive guarantee on plants. However, we do promise that your order will arrive (we get shipping insurance), that your plants will be alive upon delivery, and that the quantity and types of plants you receive are the same as you ordered. Please contact us within 48 hours of delivery if there is an issue.
